Take a brave step away from western medicine and consider the possibility of relieving oneself from aches, pains, illness, and depression by connecting to earth. Sound ridiculous? I admit it’s pretty outside the box, yet it occurred to me years ago,as my body began to show signs of aging, that depending on pain killers for the rest of my life wasn’t a wise choice, nor was it healthy. Time to seek alternative medicine!

The earth is our greatest reservoir of negatively charged electrons, and it is a scientific fact that negative electrons reduce inflammation and disease. Scientists believe the reason earth is so rife with electrons is because of the approximate eight million lightening strikes a day from all around the world, and because of the suns energy penetrating earths surface. This massive dose of electrons is absorbed into the earth and available to us for healing and energy. All we have to do is take the time to connect.

I’ve practiced grounding (also called earthing) for the past ten years, although sporadically. There is a noticeable improvement in my attitude and my energy when I practice on a regular basis. The thing that holds me back, as you might guess, is the weather! Yet, when all else failed this winter, I grounded for twenty minutes a day, three days in a row, and finally conquered the flue that had been hanging on for nearly a month. It was chilly for sure, but it was worth it.

Grounding is achieved most commonly by barefoot connection with earth on surfaces such as grass, dirt, beach, forest floors, etc. The rubber soles and plastics contained in most soles of modern day shoes block adsorption of electrons. The only solution is leather soled shoes, such as moccasins, or to simply go bare foot. The connection enables our cells to balance the positive charge and the negative charge. We are, after all, electrical beings. We are energy.

The negative electrons from earth can undo the harmful overdose of positive electrons absorbed daily from computers, cell phones, television, power lines, appliances, etc. Grounding reduces the levels of these voltages and protects our bodies.

Some of the proven advantages of grounding are: reduced inflammation, reduced stress/anxiety/ and irritability, Improved sleep, and the promotion of the rapid healing of injuries.

Look around you and notice everything growing out of, and flourishing from, the earth. Makes you wonder if there isn’t a little something in there for us, doesn’t it? Well there is!

Later,

Mary Ann

Mary Ann, I may have to give this some thought – but first I would have to have a pedicure before I go out barefoot.

I refrain from cleaning my floors for that very reason. I can ground myself by going barefoot indoors without waiting for good weather outside.

Wow! Wish I’d also thought of that.
