The Kanyini Game
A boy named Chase and his magic carpet are competing in the 420th Global Magic Carpet Game in Australia while attempting to follow the ancient teachings of the Indigenous First People. A terrible decision results in the removal of the boy’s beloved partner, and a new carpet is assigned. Then, a malicious plan to overtake the leaders of the games, and the games themselves, is uncovered. Top it all off with the fact that the boy’s original partner is being held prisoner and must be rescued, and we find ourselves thrown into a chaotic, confusing mess!
Chase and his new magic carpet, Gaston, need to figure out how to participate in the game while competing against eleven other teams, yet abide by an ancient principle that discourages competitiveness! How?
Also, there needs to be a plan to rescue Mariah (Chase’s original partner,) before it’s too late, and it has got to be successful! She is being held hostage by the Grand Mistress, a once-upon-a-time, trusted leader.
All the teams need to figure out what lessons they are supposed to be learning from each of the animals they have been sent to Australia to observe. Then they need to agree on exactly what that lesson is. And most importantly, someone needs to win the game!
The Kanyini Game was written for readers ten years (depending on their reading skills), and older. It is a wonderful adventure story for adults to read aloud to children eight or nine years old.
